Equal2Health

The G.H.Th. G.Papanikolaou – unit of psychiatric hospital of Thessaloniki within the framework of the Program with the acronym “Equal2Health” (reducing access inequalities in primary healthcare for socially significant diseases at CB Area’s deprived communities) co-funded by the INTERREG V-A Cooperation Program “Greece – Bulgaria 2014-2020″operates a Observatory on the control and prevention of socially important diseases in P.H.T..

This action is part of the project “Reducing inequalities in access to primary health care for socially significant diseases in deprived / disadvantaged communities in the cross-border area The project is being implemented in collaboration with the Cardiological Society of Northern Greece, the inter-municipal enterprise of western countryside of Thessaloniki,  «Nefeli»,the Regional Health Insurance Fund of Blagoevgrand, the Multispecialty Hospital for Active Treatment, Devin JSC and the Diagnostic and Consulting Center «Aleksandrovska», Sofia.

Beneficiaries of this project are people who are experiencing or at risk of social exclusion and do not have access to Health and Welfare services. The action aims at removing these problems through information, assessment of their health needs, medical prevention and care, their rehabilitation and support, as well as their orientation towards health and social care services, always respecting the intercultural diversity, views, preferences and desires of this population.

This particular project will bring great social benefits, targeting prevention policies, and saving resources in the Health and Social Care System. It will also contribute to the development of a network of Primary Care Services interconnected with local communities and local public services and structures for the benefit of vulnerable population groups.
